Suffering on the bike, not because of it

Stop feeling crappy on your bike.

As cyclists, we’re used to discomfort. It comes with the territory of an endurance sport.

However, that discomfort doesn’t have to extend to your fit on the bike.

Most of us will suffer for months to years, feeling uncomfortable on our bike.

We’ll make little tweaks, guessing and checking and seeing what sticks.

But it won’t create any lasting results.

The Virtual Bike Fit Rx is designed to take the guess work out of bike fitting for you. Leveraging my expertise as a competitive cyclist, bike fitter, and physical therapist, I’ve designed a solution for fixing your discomfort on the bike, all from the comfort of your own home.

Why I created The Virtual Bike Fit Rx

As a bike fitter, I love helping people feel better and ride stronger on their bikes.

By combining my unique experience of being both a bike fitter and physical therapist, I provide top-tier, comprehensive bike fits so that cyclists can feel great on their ride.

I’ve spoken with people all over the world about their bike fits, their discomfort on the bike, and what their pain was stopping them from accomplishing. Oftentimes, they had had expensive bike fits in the past and it hadn’t changed how they felt when riding.

And I kept hearing over and over “If only you were in my ::insert town here::!

The clinical reasoning, thought process, and problem solving I approach every bike fit with doesn’t change whether you’re in my clinic in Prescott or across the country in Massachusetts.

And I realized that if I could help more people in more places, why the heck wouldn’t I?

So I created the Virtual Bike Fit Rx to provide my excellent services to you, wherever you may be.

What you can expect from the Virtual Bike Fit Rx

  • Clinical Eye: Applying both my experience as a physical therapist and bike fitter allows me to take into consideration and address biomedical factors that influence your bike fit.

  • Specificity: Detailed instructions on what changes you need to make on your bike

  • Confidence: Application of physical therapy, racing history, and bike fitting expertise to provide your body with a superior bike fit

  • Education: The “why” behind these changes and why they’ll help you on the bike

Note: This program currently requires you to have a trainer, rollers, or stationary bike.

In order to deliver my most precise analysis and skilled evaluation, you must have a trainer or rollers for video footage. This allows me a 360 degree view of your bike and your fit and enables me to accurately and perfectly prescribe the bike fit that is best suited for you.

The Virtual Bike Fit Rx is for cyclists who:

  • Have had a typical bike shop bike fit in the past and haven’t gotten the results they wanted.

  • Are looking for more in-depth evaluation of their body on their bike with top-tier anatomical analysis from a skilled physical therapist and bike fitter.

  • Are not in Arizona/Prescott area

  • Don’t want to waste time carting their bike to a bike shop, spending 2-3 hours there, and carting their stuff back home.

  • Would rather make the changes to their bike on their own time.

In conjunction with video explanations, you will also receive written instructions to which you can refer.

The Ultimate Virtual Bike Fit is relatively new to the public, so I don’t have any testimonials on the program yet. But read below to hear what my clients have to say about my in-person bike fits.

Meet the creator of the Virtual Bike Fit Rx, Dr. Jessie Duppler PT, DPT

I own Chain Reaction Physical Therapy based in Prescott, Arizona, where I provide elite physical therapy to cyclists and endurance athletes. Prior to going to PT school, I was a competitive cyclocross racer and bike fitter in New England.

When I opened my practice in 2022, I added bike fitting to my physical therapy services in order to ensure both my patients’ bodies were in peak physical condition and their bike fit supported their goals and comfort on the trails and road.

In my practice, I see all body types, which helps me further appreciate that every body communicates with their bike differently. Two people with completely different heights, body composition, and riding styles who both ride medium bike frames are both going to need very different fits to feel great on their bike.

So that’s what I do. Make any human body that walks through my door feel great, on and off the bike.

You’ve got questions, I’ve got answers

  • Absolutely. Part of the reason I created this program is to save people time and allow them to make changes to their bike on their own time when it suits them.

  • At this time, this program is only available to cyclists who have access to a trainer or rollers. This enables me the best view of you on your bike and allows me to provide a superior fit analysis.

  • My video explanations are typically 1-2 minutes, of which there are usually 2-4 videos, depending upon what I see. The only other time required depends simply on how long it takes for you to make the changes on your bike. So instead of being at your local bike fitter’s for several hours, the process takes much less time, leaving you more time to ride!

General FAQs

  • The Virtual Bike Fit Rx is just that - a virtual bike fit prescription created just for you. You fill out an intake form and take videos of you riding and pictures of your bike and your shoes. From these I create detailed videos explaining the changes you have to make and the reasoning behind those changes so that you know why they will be beneficial. With the videos you will receive written instructions for your prescription. You make the changes, ride the bike, and feel better on your ride.

  • The short answer: yes. What makes a bike fit great is the reasoning, skill, and problem-solving ability behind it. Those attributes I bring to every bike fit don’t change whether you’re in my clinic, or across the country. One disadvantage to the virtual bike fit over the in-person fit is that you won’t get to listen to the 90s grunge rock I usually have on at the clinic. But you can also do that at home.

  • The beauty of the Ultimate Virtual Bike Fit is that it's designed to empower you with all the insights you need to feel good on your bike without needing direct, in-person interaction. This innovative approach allows me to offer it at a more accessible price point while still delivering the same expert guidance. You'll receive thorough, personalized video explanations detailing the recommended adjustments—just as I would share with clients in the clinic. This means you can learn, implement, and revisit the instructions at your own pace, giving you complete control and flexibility in perfecting your fit!

  • Yes! Whether you ride gravel, road, mountain bike, or a hybrid, the Virtual Bike Fit Rx can fit any bike you have*. You can also utilize this program for stationary bikes and Pelotons.

*Ok, not recumbents. But anything else, we’re golden.

  • You will need your bike set up on your rollers or trainer, ready to ride, a camera/phone and a way to shoot videos of you riding from all four directions (the sides, front, and back).

You will also need a photo of your bike without you riding, and photo of your cleats if you wear ride clipless.

  • If you ride in a chamois, make sure you wear that. If you typically wear in baggies, please ride only in the chamois so that I have a better view of your legs. Please wear a shirt or jersey that isn’t too baggy. The more form-fitting, the easier it is for me to assess your fit.

  • You will need to film videos of yourself from all four sides; front, back, and both left and right side. You will also need to take a picture of your bike without you seated on it, and a picture of your shoes and cleats. The videos must be at least 20 seconds long each.

  • You will need a Dropbox (free) membership, which is easy to sign up for and the ability to fill out a Google Form.

Prep

  • If you don’t feel comfortable or are unable to make adjustments on your bike, you can take the written recommendations to your local bike shop and they can do them for you. (If you are in the general Prescott area, I recommend Soul Ride Bike Shop)

  • This is a great reason to visit your local bike shop; if they don’t have what’s needed in stock, they should be able to order whatever you need.

  • I always advise my cyclists to ride their new fit 3-4 rides before making changes. Two weeks after your fit, you will get a follow up form that you can fill out if you feel further changes need to be made. From there, we will problem-solve to further fine tune your fit. You will have one month from the delivery of your Rx to make those changes and fill out your follow up form.

  • You will need a trainer or rollers for your videos. You will also need basic tools that you probably already have for your bike - allen wrenches, torx wrenches, and a screwdriver to move your cleats if you ride Speedplays. If there are more in-depth changes that need to be made that you don’t feel comfortable doing, I would recommend visiting your local bike shop so that they can help.

Additionally, it may be helpful to have a tripod, or some other secure way to prop your phone up to take good videos.

  • After you apply your new bike fit prescription, I recommend giving it 3-4 rides before making any further changes. Occasionally, further small changes may be helpful. After your rx is delivered, you will get a follow up e-mail 2 weeks later with a form to use to address any further changes. You will have one month from receipt of your rx to complete the form if you feel any further tweaks need to be made.

After you get your Rx

The Price
$179
This program provides you with a top-tier bike fit at a lower price point than an in-person fit, and without the additional time required for in-person bike fits.

To put this into perspective:

  • A 2-hour bike in-person bike fit with me costs $360. Most professional bike fits range between $300-600.

  • A physical therapy evaluation with me is $225. Because I can never turn that part of my brain off, I apply my physical therapy skills and knowledge to provide care from both a bike fit and biomechanical lens. You get my physical therapy-tuned eye without the additional cost of a physical therapy evaluation.

  • The Virtual Bike Fit Rx is priced at an affordable $179. That’s a savings of $406 for the expertise and knowledge provided in-clinic, delivered right to your laptop.

And let’s talk about time and insight.

  • Many bike fit shops do not provide you with information about your bike fit, other than their recommendations on what parts to buy. You will be the owner of all of the information for your bike fit so that you can return to it at any time. You will also be empowered with the reasoning behind the bike fit changes I prescribe, so that you can apply the same reasoning to other bikes you may have.

  • The cliche is true: Time is money. You won’t have to spend your time (and energy!) dragging your bike to the bike shop, getting a fit for 2-3 hours, and driving home. You can take the bike prescription given to you and make the changes on your own time.
